Student Wellness Center Services

The Student Wellness Center offers several approaches to address drug and alcohol misuse.

ScreenU

ScreenU is a series of free, confidential, substance risk assessments based on evidence-based strategies and offers immediate, personalized feedback. Based on your responses, you will receive non-judgmental feedback encouraging you to think about your choices that may be putting you at risk for harmful consequences. ScreenU can also provide ways for you to keep yourself and your friends safer. If necessary, you may be referred to campus and community resources.

  • ScreenU Alcohol can help you quickly identify if you are experiencing negative consequences because of your alcohol use.

  • ScreenU Rx can help you quickly identify if you are experiencing negative consequences because of your prescription drug use.

  • ScreenU Cannabis can help you quickly identify if you are experiencing negative consequences because of your cannabis use.

Educational Programs

Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug prevention at the Student Life Student Wellness Center offers several approaches to address drug and alcohol misuse.

  • BASICS/CASICS: The SWC offers BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) and CASICS (Cannabis Screening and Intervention for College Students) programs. These programs are offered for all Ohio State students who may want to explore their alcohol and drug use, but the goal of the program is to reduce risky behaviors and harmful consequences of alcohol or cannabis abuse. 

  • Freedom From Smoking: a free eight-session program for students who are ready to quit smoking.

  • Beyond Your Buzz: an opportunity for any students who have a desire to explore and make positive changes in their substance use. BYOB aims to engage students in authentic and open conversation around their substance use and its impact on their daily life.

Recovery Programs

Collegiate Recovery Community: a welcoming and inclusive environment that offers a variety of programs and services for students in or seeking recovery from substance misuse.

Medication Assisted Treatment: assists students with a history of opioid use disorder in maintaining their recovery by offering continued maintenance treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone, psychosocial support programs and recovery support.

Brothers and Sisters in Sobriety: LGBT-friendly Alcoholics Anonymous. Tuesdays at

Drummers Alcoholics Anonymous: LGBT-friendly AA meetings offered daily.

Gay, Joyous, and Free Narcotics Anonymous: A weekly support group of LGBTQ individuals who are struggling with and/or recovering from drug addiction. Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.

Marty's Party: LGBT-friendly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for women and non-binary people. Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Sober Queer Writing Group at Stonewall Columbus.

Recovery-focused meditation classes at Stonewall Columbus.
